Simple Crafts Recipes

Play Dough Recipe
"This recipe will last for months kept sealed in a plastic container."

How to color Rice and Macaroni
Cover rice or macaroni with rubbing alcohol.  Add food coloring.  Let set for a while.  When desired color is reached spread on waxed paper until dry.

Silly Putty

2 parts white glue (Elmer’s)
1 part Sta-Flo liquid starch
Mix glue and starch well. It needs to dry a bit before it is workable.
Store in an airtight container. If you use Elmer’s School Glue instead of regular white it doesn’t bounce or pick up pictures, but it makes a gooey delight your kids will love.

Squeeze Bottle Paint Equal parts of flour and water. Add poster paint to form a paste. Pour in plastic squeeze bottles.  Squeeze paint onto heavy paper or cardboard.

4 cups flour
1 ½ water
4 Tablespoons
Mix flour and salt.  Add water and oil slowly to the dry ingredients, stirring with spoon until well blended.  Knead dough until soft and pliable. Sculpt objects or use cookie cutters.  Bake 45 minutes at 300° oven until hard.  Paint with acrylic paints or vanish if desired.
